One of my favourite responses to the questionnaire slips, is based on body confidence which I can relate to on a personal level. The response read;
" Since having a boyfriend, he has given me confidence to show of my body and not worry about the slightest flaws that i see within myself".
I found this quote empowering as it shows how someone can have an affect on you to change your opinion of your own body as well as being able to feel 100% comfortable around them. They love the little flaws and bumps that you dislike in yourself. I think the majority of couples whether they are straight, gay, lesbian, bi and so on can relate to this, which is why I have created a photoshoot presenting my model in a vulnerable state. Expressing the juxtaposition between confidence and the slight self doubt he has in his body (Reveal and Conceal).
For this set of images, artist; Klaus Kampert inspired the type of angles I shot from. He plays around with shape of the naked human body to create these minimalistic yet stunning images. The use of the monochrome filter helps the spectators eye be drawn to the curvature and almost movement of the model. I preferred the photos that pick up on the curves,bends and bumps of the bones and muscles, that i have tried to recreate almost in my own images. This adds to the raw and vulnerable state which i mentioned earlier.
I also found a set of images on Pinterest with no artist reference, so I wasn't able to research further in the photographer. These images use similar techniques to Kamperts style, but also plays with chiaroscuro lighting, making the out curvature and lines on the body bolder and more effective.
As I have experimented with over-posed compositions in my collages as well as playing around with images from fashion magazines, I have tried to compose the shots in this photoshoot to reflect the stylised images found in fashion magazines. This is a key theme that I will continue exploring throughout the rest of this project.
