I have taken another few responses from the questionnaire which dives into the topic of coming out, and the thoughts that run through your head during this process. I have highlighted key words or phrases within the responses that can kicks start ideas on how to reflect them in a visual form.
"I have always been curious about girls but there were no homosexuals. Bi people in my school, so I never questioned it until I left. Could have been fear that stopped me?"
"I remember when my friend came out to me and was worried that I wouldn't like him"
"Coming out was really hard because my family are Christian which has effected my relationship with them"
"I felt quite confident to come out to my mum and my best friends as i knew it was safe to, and i wouldn't get hurt or let down by their reaction"
The majority of the responses seem to be hesitant of coming out, and all share a similar link in the fact that they all link to what response they would receive from the people around them. This could be an idea to consider whilst I create the imagery for this section of the magazine?
Coming out is such a nerve racking time for anyone of any sexuality or gender, as you don't fully know how people will respond to this, and fear you may not be accepted. I have personally gone through this process, so I know how it feels to be in the position. I will use my own primary experiences to reflect this within the image.
Using the experiments and research from earlier on in the project ( Pablo Thecurado, on the left side ), I will create another collage to represent mixed emotions and feelings showing within the body as well as the exterior front we put on to other people. After this I will play around with layering text on top of my collages similar to Chloe Sheppard ( on the right side ), which will convey all of the thoughts that run through your head , using quotes from the questionnaire, as well as my own words to make it more personal to me.
For the photoshoot, I've tried to portray a mixture of emotions in the physical body language, focusing on the words 'Confident' & 'Fear'. Two contrasting words which will juxtapose each other within the image to present many thoughts rushing around all at once.
